To my dismay, I discovered that 'Glow Designz' is a website and marketing company in America (I was so sure this name was not in use when I checked a few months ago) so I have been searching for an alternative. I really wanted to have 'Glow' in the name, as it is a succinct description of what my products will do, and 'nz' at the end because all my products will be made (by me) in New Zealand. There are so many different businesses with names containing Glo/Glow but my Google search could find no reference to 'Glow Creationz', therefore, I will now be moving forward under the name GLOW CREATIONZ.</p>Claire Fairweatherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08449604020098966790noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7481230812760988493.post-82892722864115189582024-02-01T09:20:00.038+13:002024-02-02T09:30:49.609+13:00GLOW DESIGNZ by Claire Fairweather<p>A New Year, a New Month, and a New Project to start work on: GLOW DESIGNZ.</p><p>I am excited to start developing a range of <b>Glow In the Dark </b>(GITD)<b> </b>products, which I will try selling primarily online. My initial idea was to make GITD Christmas tree decorations. It is a bit early in the year to start marketing these, so I will try some 'stars' for Matariki. I will also make some 'Glow-Tags' for emergency kits/camping gear and novelty ones for children's school bags.</p><p>I have many other ideas but will see if I have any success with the online sales before expanding my range of items.</p>Claire Fairweatherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08449604020098966790noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7481230812760988493.post-11372270475107537992024-01-27T10:00:00.009+13:002024-02-02T14:28:44.254+13:00My stand at BADO 2024<p>Here is my stand, set up for the Whangamata Arts Collective's 'Big Arts Day Out' event held over the weekend (27 & 28 January 2024).</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-kgL4fmbYF3T80qRVMKlwvsNk-07esxkjLBH6HYsqGH5zTAXxWe1QntjXVlgD0batAdPKh9dl4cmBgfi5se5oX5BqSTmSpD0wVBx_5RrDuKtviGyjZL5hSn_0aC0inEygdDZkAGvAHOp5CXd3w59IJQIFOvUS0fusSeEo4FP_WlekmeJw7VqLDxtlP8Eu/s4032/2024.01.27-28%20BADO%202024%20(1).jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-kgL4fmbYF3T80qRVMKlwvsNk-07esxkjLBH6HYsqGH5zTAXxWe1QntjXVlgD0batAdPKh9dl4cmBgfi5se5oX5BqSTmSpD0wVBx_5RrDuKtviGyjZL5hSn_0aC0inEygdDZkAGvAHOp5CXd3w59IJQIFOvUS0fusSeEo4FP_WlekmeJw7VqLDxtlP8Eu/w400-h300/2024.01.27-28%20BADO%202024%20(1).jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjQia4s986YbKtUsDc-Sh8gL9GbmfZ6BELFu8YgWzwjfH6eIBYU7lmAueEkPMtpQmqdZuZR4TT2o__HszX0yf9VUGWW-lZQnQmUW_jKGp4f4r0g4hG539R0_tiovfjT1UyITZ2W1QloK8ePO-R1EPt27dBSNX2PR-GB2HAJXyodIKkay2lghS41584MkAc/s4032/2024.01.27-28%20BADO%202024%20(8).jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjQia4s986YbKtUsDc-Sh8gL9GbmfZ6BELFu8YgWzwjfH6eIBYU7lmAueEkPMtpQmqdZuZR4TT2o__HszX0yf9VUGWW-lZQnQmUW_jKGp4f4r0g4hG539R0_tiovfjT1UyITZ2W1QloK8ePO-R1EPt27dBSNX2PR-GB2HAJXyodIKkay2lghS41584MkAc/w400-h300/2024.01.27-28%20BADO%202024%20(8).jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div>Claire Fairweatherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08449604020098966790noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7481230812760988493.post-14273005823572626832024-01-20T14:30:00.012+13:002024-02-02T14:29:31.508+13:00Harcourts Challenge & BADO 2024 <p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDXP6LDO0R6Fspo9lDkK1Ca22XDIlaufXq5jmagKDrIa-bRe4UO1D1R_gEyVclm6cE1gzxpEDR8GvRSQoCWXmRemqlrXbFfi_MBHyLMzYlEEHAPi3iTzO4YoxC7VujB3XNg5oTMK9z1t5YTM-iZsT-pNC7-l4LrPL8XA4JsrL1HWQrWfufusoi-hCqUamM/s2048/2024.01.19%20Harcourts%20Challenge-BADO%202024.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1448" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDXP6LDO0R6Fspo9lDkK1Ca22XDIlaufXq5jmagKDrIa-bRe4UO1D1R_gEyVclm6cE1gzxpEDR8GvRSQoCWXmRemqlrXbFfi_MBHyLMzYlEEHAPi3iTzO4YoxC7VujB3XNg5oTMK9z1t5YTM-iZsT-pNC7-l4LrPL8XA4JsrL1HWQrWfufusoi-hCqUamM/w453-h640/2024.01.19%20Harcourts%20Challenge-BADO%202024.JPG" width="453" /></a></div><br />I have finished my entry for this years Harcourts Challenge. this year was to concentrate on dot painting. I started off painting stones and
other items for practice, which looked quite effective. As usual I got
side-tracked several times on other ideas, which all came to nothing, and have
only completed three small dot paintings. I have spent a lot of time this year
landscaping the back garden and doing house maintenance. I have also developed
some new ideas for the Swirl-StoNZ I sell at the local market, as well as just
replacing my existing market stock. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;">While I have
received a lot of admiration for the dot painting, it has not materialised into
sales. So, I think my focus on the Swirl-StoNZ is confirming that my heart is
not in the dot painting. I do not get the same enjoyment from dot painting
compared to the dot mosaics I made with polymer clay but at least I have given
it a good try.</p><p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;">So, for 2024 I
plan to return to creating artwork with polymer clay mosaics and selling
Swirl-StoNZ at the local markets because I like the contact with customers. I
would also like to have another go at selling online, due to the limited number
of accessible markets (without a car) and the unpredictable nature of the
weather for outdoor events. For this, I am thinking of glow-in-the-dark items,
under the name ‘Glow Designz’. I feel this idea is more suited to selling
online, as they can easily be shown with photographs, rather than my
Swirl-StoNZ that you really need to touch.</p><p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;"><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0cm;">From previous
experience, it is easy to have plans for the forthcoming year, we will have to
see what actually happens! </p>Claire Fairweatherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08449604020098966790noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7481230812760988493.post-74540254917293385522023-10-30T16:30:00.004+13:002023-12-04T10:35:03.852+13:00Art After Dark - 10 November 2023<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPEaUaOR3jjNs-F0JGVGTMeXUyO0yqIUzkDJNgI305uzQQc2JaPVHGUIGWlMU8K6mP23HcWdScjzYP7HH_FRa_ekR1_W4QC5ggEtboM4lzGo9R6L4J7c-r53FLUH31A0N2qRfz1XTS7Jdg1kbCEqArXTF9Ef017ssoXB25N53XLDsmvvgEuAGmJBoFczO2/s2048/Art%20After%20Dark%202023.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1448" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPEaUaOR3jjNs-F0JGVGTMeXUyO0yqIUzkDJNgI305uzQQc2JaPVHGUIGWlMU8K6mP23HcWdScjzYP7HH_FRa_ekR1_W4QC5ggEtboM4lzGo9R6L4J7c-r53FLUH31A0N2qRfz1XTS7Jdg1kbCEqArXTF9Ef017ssoXB25N53XLDsmvvgEuAGmJBoFczO2/w453-h640/Art%20After%20Dark%202023.JPG" width="453" /></a></div><br /><p></p><p>Really looking forward to this event, which started for the first time last year. Now the weather has improved, I am working on a big garden design project, which will take up a good deal of my time during the next month or so. Also, I have a significant birthday in April, so plans and celebrations for that will eat into my creative time too. Consequently, it may be a couple of months before I can seriously get down to starting some larger dot painted artwork.</span></p>Claire Fairweatherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08449604020098966790noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7481230812760988493.post-70839703497066646182023-02-01T13:30:00.002+13:002023-03-21T17:06:35.182+13:00Practicing Dot Painting<p>Here are some of the items I have painted while I have been practicing painting dots:</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; This has been a very gradual process, with lots of practicing, but I feel ready to start 2023 with some confidence. Consequently, I have made a temporary amendment to my website header, until I update the whole website to reflect the new course of my artwork.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEge6T_T2eVb90HWAOlc82ayiwk3L1KX_E_z6V3CrTIQpc9MJSPmwuy8gfmCyLk3_VuN8DWr2SmLV-yj6yNQX6_SmsJP4-CNLWR246AvE-umXjf_qFlshwM_tAaqi5HGjTtLzgheCFdsVW4Df6DJbHFZXUmvtpoY0j6MhHHTwON6mDsEvBks22Zhyaf07w/s928/2023.01%20Website%20Header.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="168" data-original-width="928" height="73" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEge6T_T2eVb90HWAOlc82ayiwk3L1KX_E_z6V3CrTIQpc9MJSPmwuy8gfmCyLk3_VuN8DWr2SmLV-yj6yNQX6_SmsJP4-CNLWR246AvE-umXjf_qFlshwM_tAaqi5HGjTtLzgheCFdsVW4Df6DJbHFZXUmvtpoY0j6MhHHTwON6mDsEvBks22Zhyaf07w/w400-h73/2023.01%20Website%20Header.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div>I am excited to see how 2023 turns out, with my new ideas and a new medium.<br /><p><br /></p>Claire Fairweatherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08449604020098966790noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7481230812760988493.post-87723090411383164632022-12-16T15:20:00.119+13:002022-12-16T15:47:18.422+13:00What have I been doing for the last 5 months?<p><table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: left;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhg9Oo2o_xhfMnfWmP3YxHkk8KZyrwXq9rlJQYjuNh2UkLq1-cWT8lbesWrK56eliQ1vzNNbzKikAFX8o6tqMXhFjO1r--s9dKwXy5cWANrZmQcbnmHiydjcxdyfk3-jhoPPCVpD_VyN53S-zZS5FiAQuOxS47i7NGUdA1tW_LwE5vKRCPgateF6_kH9g/s2700/The%20End%20Of%20An%20Era.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2700" data-original-width="2700" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhg9Oo2o_xhfMnfWmP3YxHkk8KZyrwXq9rlJQYjuNh2UkLq1-cWT8lbesWrK56eliQ1vzNNbzKikAFX8o6tqMXhFjO1r--s9dKwXy5cWANrZmQcbnmHiydjcxdyfk3-jhoPPCVpD_VyN53S-zZS5FiAQuOxS47i7NGUdA1tW_LwE5vKRCPgateF6_kH9g/w200-h200/The%20End%20Of%20An%20Era.jpg" width="200" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><b>The End of an Era</b></td></tr></tbody></table>Since completing 'The End of an Era' (July 2022), with some of my unused round mosaic tiles, I have only made one other artwork. 'Moana' was created with recycled plastic, including some ground down polymer clay mosaic tiles, glitter and resin (photo to be posted in January 2023). I will enter it in the 2023 Harcourts Challenge (judging takes place on 27 January), which has the theme "making a difference". Locking the plastic into the artwork means it will not end up finding its way into the oceans.</p><p>The rest of my time has been spent making small hand-crafted items and Swirl-StoNZ for the Christmas/Summer markets. I have also been practicing painting with dots, and a number of small practice pieces, like wall hung hearts, decorative pots, mugs and candle holders are amongst my market stock.</p><p>Currently, I am working on a second entry for the 2023 Harcourts Challenge, which is a scaled down version of a Great Barrier Reef painting, inspired by my visit there back in 2017. (A photo of the finished painting will be posted in January 2023). I have decided to paint this with dots, although it is quite fiddly as the canvas is only 30cm x 30cm, as part of the transition from dot mosaics to dot painting. The 'making a difference' is intended to be shown by a reef full of coloured coral and fish grading into a colourless version in the distance. It is meant to show that we (humankind) can make a difference to the future of the reef if we try. </p><p>On another level, my move to expressing artwork with the dot painting, rather than dot mosaics, is hopefully 'making a difference' to my creative productivity. <br /><br /></p>Claire Fairweatherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08449604020098966790noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7481230812760988493.post-42616004379166734522022-10-21T21:30:00.048+13:002022-10-25T10:13:20.384+13:00Art After Dark - a dazzling event and a painting sold<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCoF5_q2TjGcTfRVX3DTyXTmLPWQZL_umZZEw18KbGLzBK3x04q1UgthzEpa2AOmOvQlBp0ZQbFXY1p_xEsfXnvyb2hXf-xOmqE-bFresADZmPAprhG_ECv2XbcLWLgwt1Z4qDCm9GgyPW9Kcf67-5jcbh3mar7KnSoUIMjeLUsgnX-R32RhasNtZc-A/s3552/2022.10.21%20Art%20After%20Dark%20(2).jpg" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3552" data-original-width="3018" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCoF5_q2TjGcTfRVX3DTyXTmLPWQZL_umZZEw18KbGLzBK3x04q1UgthzEpa2AOmOvQlBp0ZQbFXY1p_xEsfXnvyb2hXf-xOmqE-bFresADZmPAprhG_ECv2XbcLWLgwt1Z4qDCm9GgyPW9Kcf67-5jcbh3mar7KnSoUIMjeLUsgnX-R32RhasNtZc-A/w170-h200/2022.10.21%20Art%20After%20Dark%20(2).jpg" width="170" /></a></div><p>The 'Art After Dark' event, hosted by the Arts Collective Whangamata, turned out to be a really successful evening.
